Indonesia Government requested that batik (fabric with certain traditional pattern) to be acknowledged as one of the International Cultural Heritage, listed by UNESCO. The decision will be given at October 2nd. And to celebrate it, Mr President has asked the people of Indonesia to wear batik that day. The Governor of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is also asked the people in Jakarta to wear batik as well. And special request has been given to us, the journalists who cover City Hall News, since the Governor understand how rebellious we are in clothing. Well, we're the ones who wears jeans in the midst of black and grey suits. We wear tee-shirts when others wear gowns and tuxedos. *grin*
Anyway, the Governer asked anyway, convinced that, "everybody must have batik in their wardrobe". And I guess you're right, Mr Governor. I do have batik. Skirt, short dress, shirt. I wonder which one I'll be wearing on October 2nd.. :)
