KL Village

By default, Indonesian hate Malay and vice versa. Well, it probably a love-hate relationship between these two countries caused by jealousy or something like that. They think they're better than their counterpart, but every Indonesian usually hate anything Malay.

I normally share that sentiment that I don't even want to think about dating Malay guys, but I make an exception for this place, KL Village. It's a diner, located in this small area called Jl Jaksa or Jaksa street, a destination for every backpacker tourists since it offers cheap motel and cheap food and is in the center of the city of Jakarta.

Against my standing don't-want-to-have-anything-to-do-with-Malaysia, me and my colleagues love this place. We hang out in that 24/7 diner two or three times a week, in the afternoon, for coffee time. Sometimes we go there at night, but mostly in the afternoon.

You can find us sitting outdoor, in a group of 4-5 people (I think the record consist of 10 people or so), drinking ice pull tea and eating anything we wish for the moment (my choice is usually the tuna sandwich or beef murtabak, sometimes I do enjoy their Pataya fried rice), talking about anything, work mostly, and laughing.

It's us, these young journalists, from various media, prints, online, radio, news agency (me) gets unwind before meeting our deadlines. We usually take time between interviewing our sources and get back to our office to sit for an hour, drinking pull tea and talking about news, or other colleagues (you can call it gossiping :D).

Usually, it started at 4 pm and ended at 5 pm and we would scattered around the town to get back to the office, meet our bosses, telling something smart in the meeting, suggesting ideas, and writing news.

This one hour in the afternoon is kinda special to me, cause it's the time in the day where you don't have to be smart or responsible. This one hour is where we can say anything about anyone cause we have unwritten rule, "what happened in KL, stays in KL". Hehehe..

Plus, the outdoor scene is something I really love, cause I rarely get to be outdoor. I have an office in the 20th floor, thank you, but eventhough they have big glass windows, I still feel kinda trapped. I would rather be outdoor. Well, I guess, that's one of the reasons I want to be a journalist, I guess. I can't stand it to be indoor for more than 4 hours.

So if you're in town, and you want to get unwind, why not try this place. Who knows, one of the days, you can find me there, laughing, chatting with my friends.. ;)

Most Malaysians dont hate Indonesians. It's just, sometimes we are emotionally triggered by the acts and downgrading words from some Indonesians and we tend to counter back and retaliate.

Just a two cent.
