photo (updated): one of the project, children's clothes.
It's a bit ironic that my mom is a great seamstress and I can't sew. That's why when I got older and got better taste in clothing, I decided being a tailor is much better than paying a great fortune (note: exaggerating) just for a simple blouse I'm pretty sure I could sew myself (after dozens of try, of course. I'm pretty sure of that too).
So I took a class, basic sewing class, learning to build basic pattern from scratches. So far, it's ok, and actually sewing a cloth really exciting, I need to get myself my own sewing machine soon. Well, after I bought an air conditioner and a mattress, I guess (read my previous post, I just move into my own apartment).
The sewing class is once a week, on Saturday. But being a journalist, sometimes it's not easy to commit to even a once-a-week-class. I oftenly have to fly out of town to cover this and that (some of that not too important, but my editor want me to go anyway in case it gets interesting, but most of the times, it disappointing *my editor is the optimist type :D) and missed my sewing class. But since I'm not in a hurry to start make me cute summer dresses, missing a class or two in a month is still ok.
I must say, having the ability to sew your own dress make you feel kinda powerful. I often bluff to my gals when we browse the mall and point to cute simple dresses and say "I can absolutely make that myself" and they will just laugh..
I already make a simple blouse and a simple skirt and a not-to-simple dress, but they're not too good in quality so I'll post their pictures after I make some adjustment to them. Hold your breaths.. :)
